    The many uses of Google Earth and Google Maps never ceases to impress me. But a lot of people hear the words Google Earth or Google Maps and only think about locating places and not all of the other things that can be done with these great tools. Google's site for UK schools has some great lesson plans for using Google Earth and Google Maps with primary school and secondary school students. (The equivalent in the US is elementary school and middle school).

    Bboogle is software that lets you embed Google Documents (including spreadsheets, and presentations) , Google Calendars and Google Sites in a Blackboard course site. Everyone with access to the course can get to linked Google content without logging in a second time. Students and instructors are automatically added as collaborators to the documents, even if they join after the link is made.   Bboogle is also an open source project that you can join.   • I've frequently run into the same problem.  When I use a font like Georgia with a size of 18, the bottom of some of the letters run into the top of the letters on the line below.   It looks ugly.I looked up the standard HTML & CSS code:  the command line-height: xxx% is available.The HTML source for my page had a section that read:<div style="text-align: left;"><font style="font-family: times new roman,serif;" size="5">House UpFront takes the wonderful accents and accessories from Shops <br>I modified it to include:<div style="text-align: left; line-height: 200%;"><font style="font-family: times new roman,serif;" size="5">House UpFront takes the wonderful accents and accessories from Shops <br>This corrected the vertical spacing problem.  Sorry I could not find a more elegant solution.  But at least this corrects the problem.Barry

     I asked students to write in Google Docs and then share their papers with me so I would also be able to view them online. Instead of scribbling marks in the margins of printed papers, I opened each student's paper in Google Docs, highlighted text and inserted comments to clarify my thoughts, and then turned on the screen recorder (Jing) to record my voice as I scrolled through the paper and pointed to items with my mouse. Right after recording, I uploaded the finished recording to Jing's companion hosting site, and then I simply copied and pasted the link to the recording directly into the Google Doc. It was slick like butter.
